Centuries ago, Bangkok was a humble trading post amidst the dense jungle along the banks of the Chao Phraya River. It was named "Bang Makok," meaning "place of olive plums," due to the abundance of wild plum trees in the area.

Over time, it evolved into a thriving capital city. In 1767, after the sacking of Ayutthaya, King Taksin established his new capital on the western banks of the river, naming it Thonburi. However, it wasn't until the late 18th century that Bangkok, or "Krung Thep" as the locals call it, became the official capital under King Rama I.

Under the Chakri Dynasty, Bangkok flourished as a center of culture, trade, and politics. Its stunning palaces, temples like Wat Phra Kaew, and vibrant markets told tales of a rich history.

As you wander through its labyrinthine alleys and explore its winding waterways, you'll be in awe of the city's vibrant spirit. The klongs (canals) are the lifeblood of Bangkok, creating a network that connects neighborhoods and livelihoods.

Through the decades, Bangkok has evolved into a modern marvel, where towering skyscrapers and a cosmopolitan atmosphere thrive. Yet, beneath the veneer of modernity, the city retains its timeless charm.
